Södra Wood has applied for a permit to increase production capacity at the sawmills in Unnefors/SE and Orrefors/SE. Orrefors sought permission for 150,000 m³ (currently 75,000 m³) and Unnefors for 200,000 m³ of sawn timber (currently 110,000 m³). “Both sawmills have performed well in terms of production and profitability in the past and they are important in Södra Wood's future strategy”, says Håkan Svensson, Business Area Manager of Södra Wood. Orrefors processes small logs whereas Unnefors converts the finer pine quality which it then tries to place on key export markets in increasing volumes.

An environmental testing delegation within the provincial government will make the final decision on the mill ramp-ups which is expected for the turn of 2015/2016.
