In the first five months, Germany imported around 25.75 million flat pallets, i.e. 19% or 4.1 million pieces more than in the same period last year, as figures published by Destatis show. Poland remained the most important supplying country with an 18% increase and a quantity of 11.23 million pallets delivered to Germany. Poland once again exceeded the 10-million-pallet-mark. The last time before 2024 that imports fell below that mark was in the pandemic year 2020.
Marked increases were recorded in pallet imports from the Czech Republic (+23% to 4.1 million pieces) and the Baltic States. Latvia sold 2.08 million pallets (+38%) to Germany, and Lithuania delivered 1.37 million pallets (+39%) there. Austria managed to slightly increase its trade with Germany (+8% to 820,000 pieces).
Among the few relevant trading partners with a decrease is Denmark, from where 460,000 pallets (-18%) were imported.
