Only six weeks ago, one of our headlines was “Solid structural timber: € 500/m³ mark in sight” which we were rather incredulous about. Now, the raw wood costs almost as much as the finished product, i.e. up to €450/m³. There is also incredulity at the glulam price lists for July which are sent out at the moment. In May, the majority of offers ranged from €680 to €740/m³, which was 80% more than in 2020. A doubling of glulam prices may already happen in June, or in the third quarter at the latest. There is already talk about as many as €1000/m³ for glulam.
