In the APPG (All-Party Parliamentary Group) report named “Timber Construction: Barriers and Solutions”, both the Climate Change Committee and Environmental Audit Committee recommend an increase in the use of timber in construction in order to decarbonize the UK’s built environment and achieve the goal of net zero by 2050.

This latest report complements the work of the Timber in Construction Working Group. This group was created by the government in 2021 with the aim of identifying significant measures which can help increase the number of timber constructions and buildings in Great Britain, as ttjonline.com reports. The working group is set to present the roadmap for this later this year.

The latest APPG report looks to assist policymakers in their bid to decarbonize construction by outlining what policies can be used to expand timber use in the UK. This report goes beyond the arguments for timber construction.
