Log and lumber price indices at a similar level

In March, the gap between the log and lumber price indices closed further. Month on month, the lumber price index has seen a much more marked increase than the log price index.

The Austrian Timber Industry Association identified a log price index value of 172.86% in March. Month on month, this corresponds to a very slight increase of 0.12%. Compared to the all-time high in June 2022, the index value is currently 9.96% lower.

As for lumber, the Association reports an index value of 171.85%. Compared to February, the price index has risen by 3.6%.
