In the first two months of 2023, China imported 4.39 million m³ of softwood logs, which corresponds to a slight year-on-year decrease of 4%, as China Customs Statistics reports.
Imports from New Zealand grew by 11% compared to January and February 2022, reaching a total of 2.33 million m³, while those from Germany fell by 25% to 868,000 m³. China bought 207,000 m³ from Poland in the first two months, i.e. nearly 40% of total imports last year (532,000 m³), as a look in the Datacube shows.
Double-digit decreases were recorded in softwood log imports from the US (206,000 m³; -24%), Canada (148,000 m³; -34%) and Japan (133,000 m³; -11%), for example.
