According to Destatis, Germany exported a total of 4.8 million m³ of softwood logs from January to July, recording a decrease of 24% or 1.5 million m³ compared to the same period of 2021. In July alone, exports were down by around 707,000 m³.
A downward trend can be observed on the main export markets in particular, most of all in China which only bought 1.58 million m³, i.e. 35% less than last year. Shipments to Austria amounted to 1.27 million m³ (-15%) in the first seven months, while Belgium and Poland received 541,000 m³ (-20%) and 242,000 m³ (-5%), respectively.
Germany was only able to export more softwood logs to three of its main markets, that is the Czech Republic (218,000 m³; +21%), Luxembourg (187,000 m³; +73%) and France (123,000 m³; +117%).
