The main reason for this decrease is the Chinese government’s crackdown on speculation which resulted in a tighter lending environment. At the same time, log supply from New Zealand, Europe and North America has reduced dramatically. In addition, the coronavirus pandemic and the war in Ukraine continue to cause disruptions to supply chains.

This is according to a report by Scott Downs, Director of Sales and Marketing at forestry service provider PF Olsen Group in New Zealand.
