Nearly 20 million tons of pellets produced in the EU

In 2021, Germany was the biggest manufacturer of wood pellets in the EU, followed by Latvia and Sweden.

According to research carried out by the German Pellets Institue (DEPI), pellet production in the EU totaled 19.98 million tons last year. With a quantity of 3.36 million tons, i.e. 17% of the overall production output, Germany was the biggest manufacturer of wood pellets. Latvia produced 2.11 million tons, while Sweden ranks third with an output of 1.9 million tons.

France and Poland each produced around 1.8 million tons. Austria is in sixth place with a production output of 1.61 million tons.
