Pellet price stable over the past five months

29% below the level recorded in September 2023

Since May, the Austrian pellet price has remained stable at around €287/t, with fluctuations being much smaller than 1%.

In September, proPellets Austria reports a pellet price of €287/t for 6 tonnes of loose pellets. Year on year, this corresponds to a decrease of 28.9% (September 2023: €403.7/t). Compared to August, the pellet price fell by 0.1%. This month, the price of heating oil has gone down by 13.2% year on year, while that of natural gas decreased by 25.9% compared to September 2023. Nevertheless, both are more expensive than wood pellets. The pellet price index PPI06 is at 161.44 this month.

In the west of Austria buyers pay €286/t in September. In the south, pellets cost €286.4/t and in the north/east of the country, the price is at €288.1/t this month. According to proPellets Austria, 17 tonnes of loose pellets cost €246.76/t in September (August: €246.89/t).
