Versowood’s Riihimäki sawmill has been supplying sawdust to the Turenki pellet mill for many years. The sawmill and the pellet mill north of Helsinki are located at a distance of around 35 km from each other. With the acquisition of Vapo Terra’s pelleting plant, Versowood plans to increase its pellet production to around 100,000 t a year. Both parties agreed to not disclose the purchase price.

Furthermore, both parties to the contract agreed that Vapo Terra will sell the production machinery of its Vilppula pellet mill to Versowood in 2025, should the mill’s raw material and drying energy run out.

Vapo Terra is a subsidiary of the Finnish state company Neova and specializes in the production of renewable energy and of bioenergy in particular. In addition to peat, wood, too, is used as raw material.
