German pellet plant Megapellet Energy, Vossenack/DE, has filed for bankruptcy with the district court of Düren/DE on April 17. Lawyer Caroline Schmitz was appointed as provisional insolvency administrator.

The plant in the Eifel was built in 2008 for € 17 million, but already two years later sold by the original owner Stawag to Bioenergie Demmel, Greiz/DE. The parent company Bioenergy Demmel already had to file for bankruptcy in November 2013 at the district court of Erfurt. The capacity of the pellet plant was estimated at 50,000 t/yr.
