The expanded production site in St. Thomas, which is located about a two-hour drive northeast of Toronto, has recently been opened. According to Element5, annual production capacity will now be 50,000 m³ each for glulam and CLT, doubling the previous output.
The existing 13,000-m²-big industrial hall, where glulam and CLT are manufactured, was expanded by a 24,000-m²-big hall which provides additional space for shipping, assembly, and a new glulam production line. The expansion of the existing drying kiln and a new lumber sorting line are also part of the investment made by Element5, in which the Hasslacher Group holds a stake.
“The opening of our new site in Canada is an important milestone – both for Element5 and for the entire Hasslacher Group,” Christoph Kulterer, CEO and owner of the Hasslacher Group, says. “In Element5, we’ve found the ideal partner for advancing modern timber construction. Canada offers the perfect framework conditions: access to high-quality raw materials, a growing market, and a clear commitment to sustainability.”
