The new plant is called Munising Components and is located in the city of Munising, Michigan. Timber Products already operates a sawmill and plant for hardwood veneer on the site. The step to expand the site by a production facility for ready-to-use components will allow the company to increase in-house added value in a targeted way. The new products are intended primarily for use in the furniture, flooring, and wood processing industries.
For this purpose, Timber Products also purchased two Woodeye scanners from South Tyrolean scanner manufacturer Microtec. “The Woodeye scanners allow for defects to be detected that could go unnoticed by a human,” Timber Products’ Jerrod Allen said according to online journal Woodworking Network.
Timber Products is primarily known for its plywood production and operates a total of eight production sites.
