Industry inventories remain below average

The Austrian sawmill industry reduced production by an estimated 10%. This was felt on the market for sawmill by-products in May as well. In addition to pellet mills, the return of the wood-based panel industry to the market further reduced supply. The commissioning of a new sawmill is not expected to have any immediate effect on the market for sawmill by-products in the coming months. Additional pellet production capacities, on the other hand, will likely have an impact, at least at a regional level.
