Italy bought less glulam and CLT

In the first three quarters, Italy’s laminated timber imports saw a 9% decrease compared to 2019. In nine months, the country imported only around 250,000 m³ of glulam and CLT (-25,000 m³).

Shipments from Austria remained nearly stable at 184,000 m³ (-1%). Three quarters of the overall volume of laminated timber imported by Italy come from Austria.

All other main supplying countries, i.e. Latvia (-15%), Russia (-55%) and Poland (-20%), saw double-digit decreases.

A more positive development was recorded by German glulam and CLT producers who saw their shipments rise by 22% albeit from only 5,400 m³ to 6,900 m³.
