According to FinanzNachrichten.de, 55% of companies which are part of the furniture industry or furniture trade have completely or partially stopped production. According to a survey carried out by the Association of the German Furniture Industry, a lack of incoming orders caused problems for 58% of companies.

“The alternatives in online trade are limited. Only 29% of companies have an online platform,” explains Jan Kurth, managing director of the Association of the German Furniture Industry, in an interview the newspaper Neue Westfälische Zeitung in Bielefeld.

According to Kurth, it is crucial for the sector that furniture trade can begin again. The longer the lockdown lasts, the more difficult the situation will be for furniture producers and merchants.
