With XLam New Zealand, the first and so far only CLT producer of the country is stopping its cross-laminated timber production. Only one year ago, there was still talk of a five-step expansion plan. According to internet platform thefifthestate.au, CEO Shane Robertson considers the mainly manually run and rather small production not profitable enough.

In the future, the company wants to serve the growing New Zealand market with CLT from subsidiary XLam Australia, Wodonga. As for New Zealand, additional office, storage and sales units are planned.

The Red Stag Group in Rotorua/NZ is planning to launch a cross-laminated timber plant later this year.
