Back in 2016, architects Chybik + Kristof of Brno/CZ won the architectural competition with their design “Lesy v lese”. “The load-bearing structure and furnishings of the new administrative building of the State Forests should be made of wood as far as that is possible,” Dalibor Šafařík, General Director of Lesy ČR, emphasizes. Due to the big volumes of damaged wood accumulating, the construction of the wooden passive house is being delayed. The material costs and construction conditions also changed, which required and updated and adaptation of the project. The old company building in Hradec Králové, which dates back to the 1970s, has been dated for many years in terms of the operational requirements and the usual standards of similar office buildings, as Lesy ČR explains.

On February 16, Lesy ČR signed an updated contract, which includes project documentation, with the architects and planners association. The State Forests expect to obtain the building permit by October 2025 and construction to begin a year later. The actual construction work is expected to take three years. As Šafařík emphasized, no information can yet be given about the cost of the project.
