The Federal Statistical Office Destatis reports that building permits were issued for 73,900 apartments (+3.7% year on year) from January to April 2025. For new residential buildings, 15,000 apartments were permitted in April (+5.1% compared to April 2024).

In the first four months, the number of building permits for new apartments in residential and non-residential buildings rose by 4.3%, or 2,500, compared to the same period of 2024. Building permits for single-family homes increased by 15.4% year on year to 14,200. In the two-family homes segment, there was a decrease of 9.7% to 4,000 permitted apartments in the first four months. In the multi-family homes segment, the number of building permits remained practically unchanged at 38,600 apartments (-0.1%) compared to the same period last year.
