Timber construction sales up by 20%

In November 2020, Germany’s main construction sector saw its sales grow by 6% year on year. This is according to preliminary data published by the Federal Statistical Office Destatis which also reports a 1.4% increase in the number of employees compared to November 2019.

With +19.6% compared to the same month of 2019, the biggest increase in November sales was recorded in the carpentry and timber engineering segment which saw the number of employees go up by 3.3%.

The carpentry and timber engineering segment also saw above-average growth in the period January to November 2020. While sales of the main construction sector rose by 3.4% and a 5.9% increase was recorded in the construction of buildings, timber construction sales grew by 10.3% in the first eleven months of 2020.
