In 1993, the Indian Construction Ministry prohibited timber constructions. However, since India committed itself to reducing its carbon emissions by 2.5 to 3 billion tons by 2030, the decision was made to lift the ban on the use of wood in constructions. According to Realty.com, India hopes that this move is going to boost the local economy and create new jobs on a larger scale.
