At around 300,000 m³, Japanese imports increased by 9.5% compared to January 2024. Nevertheless, this import volume is only around half of the 27-year average of 570,000 m³ for this period.
A particularly sharp drop was recorded in 2023: In January of that year, only 250,000 m³ were imported, i.e. less than half of the usual volume. The current figures indicate a slight stabilization, but imports remain at a historically low level.
