In the first ten months of 2024, Finland exported 6.79 million m³ of softwood lumber and planed timber. As figures published by the Finnish Statistical office show, this corresponds to a year-on-year decrease of 2%.
Exports to Egypt grew by 19% to over 1 million m³. Japan received 628,000 m³, i.e. 27% more than in the first ten months of 2023. Finland also saw its deliveries to Estonia increase by 5% to 536,000 m³.
However, these increases were not enough to compensate for the overall negative development of exports, for example to Great Britain (554,000 m³; -6%), China (436,000 m³; -28%) and France (369,000 m³; -13%).
As always, you can find the detailed development of Finnish softwood lumber exports in the Foreign trade section of our Datacube.
