Hackney has been CEO of the BSW Group since late 2008 and also took on the role of UK Chairman of Binderholz’s subsidiary last year. Under Hackney’s leadership, the BSW Group not only managed to increase its annual sales from GBP 100 million (€117 million) to over GBP 900 million (€1.09 billion). It also became a fully integrated business and the market leader in the UK.
In 2012, Hackney was named Ernst & Young Scotland Entrepreneur of the Year. He is also greatly respected across the entire value chain of the forestry and wood processing sectors, as the company emphasizes. In addition to being involved in various acquisitions and joint ventures, Hackney also led the management buyout team, supported by Endless LLP, that ultimately resulted in the sale to the Binderholz group in early 2022.
