The figures published by the Japanese statistical office show that imports from Russia (149,000 m³; -53%) and Chile (74,000 m³; -18%), too, saw a downward trend. So far this year, 54,000 m³ were imported from Austria, which corresponds to a decrease of 51%.

In total, Japan imported 972,000 m³ of softwood lumber in the months from January to April 2023, i.e. 45% less than in the same period of last year.
