In the first phase, the production output of the sawmill in Malå is to more than double, from 160,000 to 350,000 m³ a year. “It’s incredibly positive for the Board to greenlight this modernization program for the site, which will both sharpen our competitiveness and drive up the value added,” says Setra’s CEO Katarina Levin. The Malå site will have a new log intake, a new saw line, a modernized trim saw as well as a new drying unit.

In the sawmills in Heby und Hasselfors, drying capacities are to be increased and old machines are going to be replaced.

Over the past four years, Setra invested around €100 million in its production sites in the Bergslagen region in Central Sweden. In summer, for example, the company bought a line for small-diameter logs for its Skinnskatteberg site and in 2020, a band resaw was installed at the sawmill in Nyby.
