All conditions which are specified in the Asset Purchase Agreement were met. With the transfer of the purchase price, the purchase and thus the closing was completed on Friday.

In a virtual auction on December 10, 2020, Binderholz purchased all assets of Klausner Lumber Two based in Enfield, Halifax County, North Carolina. The sawmill has a cutting capacity of more than 1 million m³ of log wood and a processing capacity of more than 500,000 m³ of planed timber. Production is expected to start at the end of 2021.

Reinhard Binder, CEO of Binderholz, specifies in a press release: “With the successful completion of the transaction, we can now start completing the plant. We will continuously strengthen and expand our presence in the US – in the lumber segment and in the area of further processing in particular. In this respect, we recently had great success: As Binderholz Group, we are supplying a total of 7,150 m³ of laminated timber products for the construction of the nine-story timber high-rise “Intro” in Cleveland, Ohio. To be precise, we are supplying 5,650 m³ of cross-laminated timber (CLT) and around 1,500 m³ of glue-laminated timber (glulam). Intro is currently one of the biggest timber construction projects in the US. It consists of 288 residential units and a shopping center.”

As a result of the start-up of the two US sawmills and ongoing investments in the European production sites, sales are going to rise to € 1.5 billion in 2021/22 and the number of employees is going to reach 3,500.
