So far, the German sawmill industry has come through the corona pandemic extremely well. While other sectors have suffered substantial losses, German sawmills recorded the highest sales of all times.
From January to July, the sector’s sales amounted to € 2.89 billion. The sawmill industry beat its own record sales of the previous two years by 0.8% and 0.3%, respectively. At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, in March (-4%) and April (-7%), sales were still well below last year’s levels.
