US prices again on last year’s level

With an increase of around 15 US-$/1000 bft, the 2-by-4 price is again on last year’s level in the east of the United States.

With an exchange rate of 1.085 US-$/€, European exporters receive around 235 €/m³ free Great Lakes region. Week-on-week, the increase amounts to nearly 8 €/m³. Compared to the lowest level of this year, which was reached at the beginning of April, prices have been rising by 15 €/m³.

The upward trend currently holds with all US softwood sawn timber assortments. At the moment, the radical production curtailments and the surprisingly high demand lead to an increase in US softwood sawn timber prices.
