Slight rise in softwood sawn timber exports

Last year, Austrian softwood sawn timber exports (including planed timber) amounted to 6.09 million m³. In 2018, Austria exported a total of 5.93 million m³. This corresponds to a 3% increase as Statistik Austria reports.

Italy remains the main foreign market (2.64 million m³; +2%). Exports to Germany remained nearly constant at 1.04 million m³ (+1%). As in the months before, Slovenia is in third place with 699,000 m³ (+9%). Volumes sold in Japan continued to fall to 291,000 m³ (-5%).

In relative terms, softwood sawn timber exports to Croatia (212,700 m³; +19), Slovakia (93,900 m³; +17%) and China (85,300 m³; +72%) recorded double-digit increases.
