Exports to Italy saw a stable growth (2%) and reached 2.26 million m³ in the first ten months of 2019. This is according to Statistik Austria. Sales in Germany grew by 5% to 919,000 m³. Exports to the Levant were up as well: Those to Slovenia rose by 6% to 567,000 m³ and those to Croatia by 20% to 184,000 m³. Austria ships its softwood sawn timber to the Levant region via the two countries.
The other overseas markets are less relevant for Austria than for Germany or the Scandinavian countries. The US received 163,000 m³ (+3.4%), and 61,000 m³ (+47%) were shipped to China.
