US engineering group USNR, Woodland, has taken over Swedish sawmill equipment supplier Söderhamn Eriksson, Mariannelund. The deal includes all subsidiaries, according to a joint press release. This way, USNR intends to expand its market share in Europe and scale up its services. Apart from its own home markets, the new owner expects to improve its position in South America, Australia, New Zealand, Russia and Asia. Söderhamn Eriksson already offers solutions that fit the North American market well. Together with the Americans, the Swedes are now able to implement fully integrated systems worldwide, the press release says, adding: “In Mariannelund, the new owner is perceived as very positive and transformative”.

The Swedish engineering company used to be a member of Cellwoodgruppen, a Swedish industrial participation in family ownership. By its own definition, USNR is the world's largest supplier and technology provider for the sawmill industry.
