UPM today announced that for lack of a "credible buyer" it will permanently close down its Docelles paper mill in France by end of the month. The mill has a capacity of 160,000 tons and a workforce of 161. A company statement reveals it was UPM's plan to "adjust its graphic paper capacity and support operations to match the declining demand in Europe", also stressing that "UPM is still open to consider the sale of Docelles mill machinery and property".

The Finnish wood and paper group has set aside € 25 million as special items of 4Q 2013 operating profit related to restructuring of the mill.
