From January to June, China imported 219,000 m³ of softwood logs from Latvia. In the same period of last year, imports had totaled 35,000 m³. Shipments from the other Top 10 supplying countries fell by an average of 37%.
Particularly marked decreases were recorded in imports from Germany and Uruguay. Germany only sold around 3 million m³ (-52%) to China, while Uruguay shipped just under 406,000 m³ (-62%) to the country in the first six months. Imports from the other supplying countries fell by 77% to 797,000 m³.
