According to the Austrian timber industry association, the log price index was at 102.17% in December 2019. Compared to the previous month, it rose by 3.11 percentage points. It is the fourth consecutive month which saw an increase in the index value. In August 2019, the index was at 95.27%. A year ago, in December 2018, the association reported a value of 116.48%.
The sawn timber price index, however, continued to fall. In December 2019, it was at 111.37% and thus down by 2.2 points compared to the previous month. Since December 2018, the index value has fallen by 19.44 percentage points.
