Beech log exports down by almost 10%

In the first eleven months of 2019, German beech log exports fell by 9.5% to 719,900 m³.

In the period January to November 2019, Germany’s beech log exports thus fell by 75,800 m³ year on year. Deliveries to China declined by 19% to 298,900 m³. Exports to Slovakia (27,600 m³; -49%), Switzerland (16,100 m³; -28%) and Sweden (15.600 m³; -44%) saw double-digit decreases as well.

According to Destatis, sales in Austria and Denmark increased, respectively, by 15% to 259,200 m³ and by 14% to 47,500 m³. German beech log exports to India saw a strong growth of 510% year on year, which brought the total to nearly 10,000 m³.
