As the Slovenian statistics authorities announced in a press release, especially purchases of sawlogs and veneering sank with -30% compared to the previous month. Pulpwood purchases lost 16% and other industry wood 12%. When comparing the volumes to the levels of last year, the low sales numbers show an even worse effect: Sawlogs and veneering dropped by almost 49%, pulpwood declined by 35%, and other industry wood lost 43%. The statistical office, however, does see a silver lining: Demand for firewood and woodchips increased by 5% compared to the previous month.
