Since the absolute euro values are very difficult to compare due to different measurement and billing modalities, qualities and dimensions, here is a percentage comparison of the spruce log prices of the past six years.
The mixed price for spruce and fir logs in Austria and Germany has risen by 70 percentage points from the beginning of 2020 (base January 2020 = 100%) to April 2026. Compared to the record value of February this year, the value has now fallen by 5 percentage points.
In Finland, the price of spruce logs has risen by 32 percentage points by February this year (132%). Compared to July 2025, the pointer value has decreased by 17 percentage points in the past seven months.
In Norway, the price of spruce sawn logs has risen by 75 percentage points in the past six years. Recently, however, there has been a significant decline: at 175%, the price in December 2025 was 23 percentage points below the peak value of June 2025 (198%).
The price of spruce sawmill logs from forest Road in Sweden more than doubled between January 2020 and December 2024 and reached a level of 234% at the end of 2024. This also corresponded to the level at the end of 2025. From the previous peak in May 2025 (255%), the price fell by 21 percentage points by December 2025.
