As reported on the German Weather Service's website, hurricane "Herwart" reached wind speeds of
95-120 km/h on the 29th of October. With 176 km/h, the strongest wind gust was measured on the Fichtelberg in the Saxon Erzgebirge. The Saxony state forestry service is expecting severe damages to forests. The exact extent of damages to the forest will only become apparent in the upcoming days. Sachsenforst however already assumes that "Herwart" will be the most momentous storm for Saxon forests of this year.
