According to the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) of the United States Department of Agriculture, the US exported wood pellets worth a total of US-$1.86 billion in 2024, compared to 9.6 million tonnes worth US-$1.75 billion in the year before. In 2022, 9 million tonnes of wood pellets with a value of US-$1.56 billion were exported.
Great Britain received seven of the 10 million tonnes in 2024. Japan (1.2 million t) and the Netherlands (659,000 t) were in second and third place, respectively, and were closely followed by Denmark which purchased 649,000 tonnes of US wood pellets. Exports to Germany totaled 78,900 tonnes according to the FAS. Figures published by Destatis show a slight difference in the trade volume: The Statistical Office reports that Germany imported 77,200 tonnes from the US in 2024.
