According to the DEPI and Bioenergy Europe, Germany produced 3.71 million tonnes of wood pellets in 2023. The country is the number one producer in the EU. France ranks second with an output of 2.25 million tonnes, and Poland follows in third place with 2.2 million tonnes.
Austria ranks sixth with a production output of 1.73 million tonnes and closely follows Latvia (1.79 million t) and Sweden (1.74 million t). Last year, a total of 20.8 million tonnes of wood pellets were produced in the EU.
