Finland produced 385,000 t of pellets in 2018. Compared to the previous year, this is a production increase by 13,000 t. The Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) reported that also import and export volumes of 2018 reached record levels. Imports, for instance, grew 9% to a total of 95,000 t where about 90% of imported pellets came from Russia.
This is countered by an export level of 43,000 t which makes for a plus of 16% compared to 2017. Most important customer country was Denmark. Scandinavian countries in general received around 80% of goods.
