Thus, sentiment among manufacturers has improved somewhat. Furthermore, a positive development is reported with regard to the order backlog. 29% of manufacturers reported an increase here, while the order backlog remained unchanged at 50% of the surveyed companies. Stock levels of the raw wood (50%) and the end product (64%), too, remained mostly unchanged.
Purchase price index for spruce/fir raw wood was at 136.8% in February, and thus increased by 1.8% month on month and by 16.4% compared to February 2024.
An upward trend can also be observed in all of the sales price indices. The price index for non-visible quality spruce/fir solid structural timber bars sold to timber trade rose by 3.9% month on month to 129.7% in February 2025, while that for sales to direct buyers went up by 1.6% to 124.2%. As for list goods, an index value of 128.5% is recorded for sales to timber trade (+3.5% compared to January) and of 122.1% (+0.6%) for sales to direct buyers.
