As announced by Rettenmeier Holding, the relevant antitrust authorities have approved the Plößberg acquisition. The closing is expected shortly, pending the fulfillment of additional requirements.
The companies will now operate under the new name Rettenmeier Holzindustrie Plößberg GmbH, with two exceptions: Prechtl GmbH Anlagen und Maschinenbau and Ruhland Druckluft & Systemtechnik GmbH will retain their original company names.
Robert Friedl becomes the new Managing Director of Rettenmeier Holzindustrie Plößberg. He has held this position under Ziegler for the past four years.
With the increased annaul capacity of the Rettenmeier Group reaching 6.2 million m³ per year, the company has entered the top tier of European sawmills and has become the number one in Germany.

The Timber-Online article Rettenmeier acquires Ziegler and is now the no. 3 in Europe reports on the acquisition. The authority has now reviewed and cleared the merger. The decision was made on February 26th. Specifically, the approval covers the acquisition of multiple assets of Ziegler Holzindustrie GmbH & Co. KG, all shares in Prechtl GmbH, and a 75% stake in Ruhland Druckluft & Systemtechnik GmbH by Rettenmeier Holding AG.
