In September, the price index of solid wood for pallets is at 374.9% (base: 1/2005 = 100%) according to the German wood packaging, pallet and export packaging association (HPE). Month on month, the index value increased by 1.3%. In September 2023, it was at 303.3%. The price index of solid wood for packaging rose by 1% to 204.6%. Year on year, it is up by 13.2 percentage points.
When it comes to plywood for packaging, the HPE reports a month-on-month increase of 0.5%, which brings the index value to 198.3% in September. Compared to the same month of last year, the current index value is 7.1 percentage points lower. The price index of OSB for packaging increased by 3% compared to August and is now at 103%. In September 2023, an index value of 97.7% was reported.
