CLT sold well below its value
While sales are satisfactory at least in terms of volumes, you still hear about unbelievable prices for cross-laminated timber. Paradoxically, the gap between cross-laminated and glue-laminated timber prices keeps getting bigger. Given the effort and cost of production, CLT would have to be much more expensive. This applies to visible quality products and especially to non-visible quality CLT. Falling prices mean that the offer phase lasts several months.
The following applies to all glued timber products: We won’t be able to compensate for weak demand by reducing prices. Curtailing production is the only solution.
