In 2019, Japan imported 882,000 m³ of glulam and CLT, i.e. 4% more compared to the previous year. The biggest quantity was bought from Finland (329,000 m³; +5%). In relative terms, imports from Russia saw the most marked increase (75,000 m³; +24%). Imports from Romania (+7%), Austria (+3%) and Estonia (+2%) were up as well.
Japan bought less glulam and CLT from Poland (43,000 m³; -10%), Sweden (18,000 m³; -16%) and Germany (8,000 m³; -58%).
