Kronospan is investing more than € 100 million in their chipboard factory in Castanares, Spain. The modernization of the plant is planned in two phases, according to wko.at, the first of which was completed in October already. It mainly entailed measures to reduce environmental damages and to advance automation. The second phase aims at a significant increase in capacity, its completion is scheduled for mid-2016. For January, the operation start of a biomass plant is planned. After the reconstruction, the timber industry's next undertaking is increasing export shares from Spain.
