Hardwood lumber production still at a low level

In the second quarter, production output grew by 6% compared to the previous three-month period when 202,000 m³ of hardwood lumber were produced. In the second quarter of 2023, 235,000 m³ of beech and oak lumber were produced in Germany, i.e. 9% more than in the same period of this year, as the Federal Statistical Office Destatis reports.

In the first six months of 2024, hardwood lumber production amounted to 417,000 m³ and was thus down by 13% year on year. Compared to the first half of 2022, output decreased by 23%.
